Husband, brother, father, grandad (since passing great grandad). Loved and missed by all, taken far too soon, unexpectedly diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in Apr’19, passing away May’19. In his younger years, he was a sailing instructor, built his own boat (kept in Dover harbour). In the 80s/90s he would sail his Topper with family along Herne Bay. He would eagerly visit any RNLI station and chat to the volunteers, he himself being a volunteer at Herne Windmill until his sudden decline XxX

Captain Gwilym Owen

Dad left school in 1944 and spent his whole working life at sea, in the Merchant Navy. He worked for the Blue Funnel line for over forty years and became a Captain in the late 1960s. His ships sailed all over the world and he was responsible for rescuing crew members from stricken vessels on occasion, as well as patching up fellow crew members after severe storms. I’m so proud that his name will continue to set sail aboard the wonderful RNLI13-47 and its brave and dedicated Anstruther crew.

My dad /grandad and brother passed away at the age of 85 on the 27th January 2021, after post covid related illnesses and lymphomas on the brain. My dad always joked if he won the lottery he buy a lifeboat and have it named after him. So this is a very fitting memorial. Dad always enjoyed reading the lifeboat magazine ,and would always visit the lifeboat stations and shops on visits to seaside towns ,it become a tradition for him topurchase his Christmas cards on away on family holidays.

Val was amazing.Full of life and vitality.A leader of a local Boys' Brigade Company,youth worker,active member of the URC church.Met her husband Bob in her teens.Her heart was big enough to embrace the world-her children,their loves,grandchildren,siblings,family and innumerable friends.Known affectionately as 'Big Val'- not due to size but the force of her loving,caring personality.She and Bob,are keen supporters of the RNLI.We love her name being on a boat dedicated to caring and saving life.

Dedicated to my dad. A fisherman most of his life, fishing out of Methil and East Coast waters. He had a boat built by Millers of St Monans. He carried out this livelihood until the 1960s when he became Motor Launchman of the pilot boat in Methil. He continued in this post until his retirement. A great man who lived on the sea but couldn’t swim a stroke.

An Engineer & businessman who gave so much via support for many organisations, charities, individuals & his church, John left an indelible impression on everyone with his distinctive voice, his appetite for solving problems & his generosity. Though he'd no connection to RNLI Anstruther, 'Launch a Memory' seems a fitting tribute since, in 1963, John fell overboard from his classic Clyde 20-ton one design yacht ‘Tigris’ in a North Sea gale but grabbed a rope & was hauled aboard by his friends!

Peter Ian Hunt

On 21/10/1997, after going missing from his home in North Berwick, Peter was spotted by a local fisherman in the sea near Anstruther. His family and friends will always be grateful to the RNLI too for their role in helping us find closure, so having Peter’s name on the new Anstruther lifeboat seems a fitting tribute. Peter studied at the University of St.Andrews and Dunfermline College before becoming manager of North Berwick Sports Centre and SportPlus. He is sadly missed by all who knew him.

Jon died on the 25th of March 2022. At Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton, Somerset. He was 66 years old. He would have been 67 on the 7th of Dec 2022. He went to a Naval college in Wales at the Age of 15years. Was told that he couldn't join Royal Navy as they reckoned, he was Colour Blind. He served in the Merchant Navy. But left in 1981 as mother was dying, He then became a Sales Assistant. Pub Manager. Electrician, Lorry Driver. He was a much-loved Brother to Sue/Nick etc. Partner to me.

Mum and Dad retired to Poole in the early 1990s and immediately became supporters of the RNLI, and watched as the new HQ and training centre was built on Holes Bay. But our family's respect for the RNLI goes much further back to when we used to live at Wells-next-the-Sea and would walk the run to watch the lifeboat being towed and launched by tractor after we'd heard the siren go off. Still makes a chill run down my spine remembering the brave crews launching in winter gales.

In loving memory of John whose passion for the Royal Navy continued strong long after his retirement and was only equalised by his love for his family, his wife Joan, rugby and Robert Burns, and maybe a Laphroaig or two, quite often all of these simultaneously. Growing up in Newlyn in Cornwall the Sea and the RNLI were a focal point of local life. Where we lived we could hear the roar of the lifeboats engines when it went out of the harbour. At the age of 43, Garry died very unexpectedly in 2018, too soon. He Lived and worked on the Ayrshire coast. Garry was a talented photographer keen on mountains, the sea and wild life in all seasons and weathers. At the age of 9 his first experience with the RNLI was at a fund raising evening at Carradale Harbour in the Mull of Kintyre, where he got to board a lifeboat and so his love of boats began. My father would have absolutely loved the fact we added his name to a lifeboat, especially one based at a station close to his Scottish heritage. It is also very poignant for me since I am a Tour Guide at the RNLI in Poole and help host the Launch a Memory visits. So I will have two reasons to be very proud when the boat is complete and sets sail for Anstruther to save lives at sea.

Jacob Clarke

Jacob worked for several national charities, becoming Legacy Senior Marketing Manager with the RNLI at the end of 2020. He was involved in the ongoing development of the ‘Launch a Memory’ scheme and would be thrilled to have his name added to a lifeboat. We are so proud of the difference his work made to others. Jacob’s death from cancer in April 2022, a few days before his 33rd birthday, has left an immense gap in our family and he is deeply missed by us and his many friends and colleagues.

He always wished he could go back to sea one day. We welcome the opportunity for his name to be displayed on the Anstruther Lifeboat, allowing John to venture out to sea again.

We've chosen to launch a memory in honour of Pamela Maddison, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt who sadly passed away unexpectedly in August 2022. Pamela loved going on cruises with her husband Robert and had a cruise booked for their anniversary which she didn't get to go on.. This way her memory will always be out at sea and even better, saving lives. There is no better way to honour Pamela.
