Juam F XAVIER, was born in Apr 1918, in the Island of Kayts in the North of Ceylon. At the outbreak of WWll, he was stationed at HMS Trincomalee as a Tug-master, undertaking numerous salvage and rescue operations in the NE approaches of Ceylon. At the end of the war, he was appointed Master of MV Sir William Mathews, bucket-dredger, tasked with harbour engineering developments in Colombo and Galle. He died of cancer in March 1993.
