Sadly our Father Bill Purves recently passed. When he was called up for National Service. He chose to join the Merchant Marine. He joined his first ship for the Willson line the Regent Panther, in Glasgow on the 4th November 1952. He never forgot his time at sea and always had a pair of ship spotting binoculars to hand at his holiday caravan in Fife. He was keen a supporter of the RNLI whither, dropping his change in the collecting tin at the local fishmonger to selling raffle tickets.
