My Dad loved the sea, he loved yachting and sailing off around the Greek Islands and other places. He felt more comfortable being surrounded by water. The only charity he ever subscribed to, and believed in, was the RNLI. To have his name on the side of one of RNLI's boats is such a wonderful thing and of which I am sure he would be so honoured.

Dad love the sea and he loved children. In his retirement from teaching he shared both loves by becoming a volunteer at Porthcawl Lifeboat Station, hosting school groups and sharing stories. He died on 5th November 2016 and is sadly missed by all who knew him.

Alan loved the sea, we live very close to the lifeboat station and he had a huge respect for the crew, he was a fantastic Dad and husband, this photo was taken a year before he died, he's passed his love of the sea onto his son who at 17 spends most of his free time on the water. We all miss Alan, he was a huge personality and love the idea of his name being on a lifeboat.

Capt. John Maxwell Graham Arthur (Max). Merchant Navy for most of his working life. Russell Chandler

Russell worked for the Scottish Ambulance Service for 35 years, first donning the paramedic uniform in his hometown of Greenock. He later went on to train paramedics at the HQ in Barony Castle. His career was his passion much the same as the RNLI crews. We were all very proud of him, none more so than his mum, wife & daughters...he was our hero. We felt it fitting that by donating he would continue to be a part of saving lives & his name would accompany your brave crews in their service.

This is my Father Charlie .The sea was in his blood.He was a West Coast fisherman from Campbeltown and a crew member of the RNLI.He received his 25 years Silver Service Badge.My Saturday mornings when I was little were spent down the pier with him cleaning the Lifeboat and my job was cleaning the brasses on board.Back then the alarm was raised by the old Air Raid siren at the Police Station to let the crew know there was a shout.Charlies life was the Sea and I am so proud of him.Miss you Charlie

My husband Maurice had supported the RNLI for over 40 years until his death from MND. He was Chairman of a London Branch then at the Maldon Branch in Essex. He built working models of lifeboats and some are still raising funds where they are on display at various events in the Maldon area. The largest one is at Cromer Lifeboat Station. I am still Secretary of the Branch which he hoped I would continue to be.

Eoin was Autisic, non verbal and had Epilepsy, sadly one of his weekly 30 seconds seizure took him from us in April 2017. Eoin was so funny and happy and taught us so much with the love that he had and to appreciate the smaller things in life, that we take for granted. He loved going to Donegal, for its quietness and beauty but one of his big enjoyments was crossing the sea to Arranmore on the Ferry. He loved boats and would stand at the side of the boat and watch the waves. Fantastic cause.

David Grubb

On 11 April 1900, coxswain David Grubb and his son James were drowned when Padstow steam lifeboat, James Stewart No 4 was lost. They are ancestors of my husband. Out of a crew of 11 - 8 drowned. A fitting tribute to him and brave crews everywhere.

Bernard Freer

My father loved the sea and was in the Navy during WW2 serving in the North Atlantic, South Africa and finally in the Mediterranean where he developed a tumour on his spine and was taken to Alexandria for surgery (the photo was taken on an earlier shore leave there). He became a clergyman but never lost his love of the sea and would be very proud of Grand-daughter Alice who is now a crew member at Aberdyfi.

Florence Piper

Florence’s Piper’s husband was killed in WW2 when his ship got torpedoed in the Denmark Straights, so it is lovely she will be on this Shannon helping others. Florence will be with her Great Grandson Jack Saunders who’s memory is also on this Shannon.

Mum had a godfather in St Ives when she was young who was part of the lifeboat crew there. She has always supported RNLI, and when Dad died his collection was sent to them. Now her collection is going to them too. When we saw this opportunity to have names on a lifeboat it seemed perfect - they both loved holidaying in Scotland.

Having Marc’s name on the side of an RNLI lifeboat is the most appropriate way of remembering him. Following in his fathers footsteps Marc served 20 years on the lifeboats out of Barry, South Wales. It was one of his proudest achievements. Marc lost his battle with liver cancer November 2018 aged 45.

In memory of our Grandad. Bill was true man of the sea, who sailed to America on troopships in WW1, served on steam trawlers off Iceland, lost a dearly loved younger brother on minesweepers during WW2, and who’s own father was a crewmember on an RNLI lifeboat at Hoylake. He knew the RNLI well and respected all that it stands for, we know he would have been honoured to be remembered in this way and for his name be part of the ongoing story of lifeboats and their crews.

My Dad always loved the sea, and we spent some happy days sailing with him in the yacht that he fitted out himself. He always admired the RNLI and supported them in their wonderful work, and I can't think of a better way in which to let his memory live on.

My lovely Dad died in 2017 aged 85. He joined the Royal Navy aged 14 and served for over 40 years, rising to the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He was well aware of the dangers of the sea and had a great respect for those who risked their lives to rescue those in trouble at sea.

Dennis grew up on the banks of the Mersey , born into a rich ancestry of fishermen and lifeboatmen. He adored the river, despite never learning to swim. We know he would have been honoured to have this dedication with such a fitting organisation, which he always admired. 'The sea, once it casts it's spell, holds one in it's net of wonder forever'

In loving memory of our dear Mum and Grandmother who spent many happy hours sailing along the Devon and Cornish coastline, even though she couldn't swim. Mum was kind, loving and beautiful; she would do anything for others. "Pictured here with her sister Peggy (Watson), a loyal member of the Ross-Shire branch of RNLI sadly passed away at Invergordon hospital in August 2018. Two sisters very fondly remembered by their families and now reunited on this lifeboat."

Albert was aged 20 a vegetable cook on the ss ceramic heading to Australia in 1942. The ship was torpedoed and from the 600 aboard there was only one survivor.

Terry was a true gentleman who was taken from us too soon after a short battle with cancer. He passed away peacefully on 12.06.2019 aged 72. Terry was a keen supporter of the RNLI and would have been honoured to have his name accompanying the volunteers trying to save lives. Miss you Uncle Terry xx

Mike was a much loved and loving husband, dad and grandad,who died age 77years. He was a very keen supporter of RNLI and had great respect for the work undertaken by all RNLI volunteers. Nic as he was known was a Commodore of Port of Leith Motor club, Trustee of the Island of Eilean Mόr MacCormick (an Island on the west coast of Scotland), Book Writer, Governor for RNLI and a good safe sailor. He was very clever, talented, kind and generous and if he could help you in any way he would.

Den was a quiet man with a dry sense of humour and a sweet tooth. He is greatly missed by us all. As a man who couldn’t swim and only ventured out in a boat once he would have found it amusing to be remembered in this way! However, throughout his life he was always helping others so he would be happy with this legacy.

Arthur Nichols was a good man who was liked by everyone he met. He is greatly missed by us all. Even though he lived near the sea he didn’t have much opportunity to explore it other than his one cruising experience. He was a kind gentleman who always supported a worthy cause.

Mark Joseph Provis

Mark was a proud member of the Port Isaac RNLI and in 1978 he was awarded the thanks of the institution inscribed on vellum for his part in the successful rescue of a boy trapped at the base of cliffs in a heavy ground swell on the North Cornish coast near Tintagel. In July 2000 aged 44 years Mark sadly passed away leaving behind two sons David and Michael and three brothers and he is greatly missed by all. Marks family are pleased to be able to include his name as part of 'Launch A Memory'.

Bruce Sexton

Bruce would have been very proud to know his name would be on the side of a serving lifeboat as he was a lifelong supporter of the RNLI. His dearest wish was to move to Poole when he retired and to volunteer his time. Sadly, he became ill and passed away at the age of 56. He is greatly missed by many people and for myself can never be replaced. A very fitting way to remember such a lovely husband.

Ryan Donoghue

My grandson Ryan emigrated to Australia with his family when he was six, where he learned to love and respect the sea. At the age of 20 he was sadly killed in an accident whilst working as a frontier fisherman, prawning in the Gulf of Carpenteria. No-one could have saved him that day but he will now be there when the lifeboat heads out to sea to rescue and save others.

Clifford John Mills

Dad was a submariner in World War Two from age 17. He served on seven different submarines in the Far East, stationed in India, Ceylon, Australia and Hong Kong. He was the sole survivor of HMS Porpoise (N14) which was lost to Japanese air attack in January 1945 on its final minelaying patrol before returning to Britain. Dad had changed places with a man who wanted to get home to see his wife and new baby. Dad subsequently led a long, happy and varied life into his eighty ninth year.

A hugely talented Goldsmith, highly successful businessman, amazing husband to Yvonne and one of the nicest people you could ever meet. Marred by one flaw, bad jokes. We met on the water and my one regret is that I never got to sail with you on the West Coast of Scotland, but I'm really proud to know that a Scottish Lifeboat will carry your name.

Reginald died on 9th July 1917 when HMS Vanguard exploded in Scapa Flow. That day was his daughter, Peggy's 4th birthday.

Dad -Passed away 22/10/2010 A loving father and grandfather to my children. A proud scotsman and former sailor with the Royal Navy. His Ashes were scattered with such dignity and respect in Jacksons bay Barry by the wonderful crew at RNLI Barry. The 2020 launch of the Invergordon boat coincides with his 10 year anniversary. Ironically we also lived in Invergordon for a number of years. A fitting tribute to have his name on the Invergordon boat Missed every day - Never forgotten
