Our parents had a lifelong affinity with the RNLI - our father was a merchant seaman, torpedoed in 1942 in the North Atlantic & rescued after 6 weeks at sea. Our mother joined the Wrens in 1941 aged 17. Often separated in their married life by the sea, they appreciated the dedication of the volunteer service. John died in 1992 after 45 years of marriage and Cecilia passed away in 2017.
Their love of the sea and their respect for its power is a reminder to us to remember all those who serve.
