Last in the line of our family's seafarers -- for a while he was Cox of the Barry lifeboat. His father, my grandfather, was a sea Captain, who came originally from Whitby. Our family's life was tied up with ships and the sea -- my grand-uncle also was a sea Captain -- and my paternal grandfather was a marine engineer.
