Arthur Walker
His youngest daughter, Susan
Dad was born in April 1914 and raised in Bridlington down the coast from Whitby. He loved the sea and spent much time swimming in it! In 1934 he was awarded a Royal Humane Society velum for helping to save a man from drowning. He planned to be a merchant seaman. Sadly the 2nd World War got it the way. He was called up into the Army, then Normandy just after D Day, June 1944. That July he was severely wounded, his dreams of a career at sea were dashed for ever. He died in December 1985.
