This is in memory my late father, Michael, who served in the RN 1940-1945 as a Wireless Telegraphist (Sparks) aboard a number of smaller ships - armed trawlers and corvettes - escorting convoys operating on the North Atlantic and Arctic Oceans. He sailed out of many East Coast ports, Aberdeen, Hull, Grimsby and most probably Whitby. A huge admirer of the RNLI, he willingly, unquestioningly sacrificed 5 years of young life for his country, for which we remain ever thankful.
