Norman Dunkerley
His daughter, Anita Rosemary Brown
To my beloved father, Norman Dunkerley who was Whitby Town Treasurer from 1930 to 1960, and devoted himself to the town where I was born in 1933. He was immensely proud of the lifeboat, especially of the Rohilla rescue.
A soldier in the Manchesters in WW1, he joined the Whitby ARP in WWII, and threw himself into war work, earning the MBE in recognition for his fund-raising efforts with Mary Churchill.
He was a keen golfer at Whitby golf club, and is pictured with one of his trophies.
