Our Dad/Grandad Sonny was a familiar face in Whitby having lived here all his life. He always supported the lifeboat and was part of the lifeboat crew in his younger years. In December 1955 he nearly missed his own wedding whilst out on a call to search for Progress which was missing with his uncle and cousins on board. He made it back in the nick of time to marry his beloved Gwen.
