Mary Halliwell
Mary joined the Brighouse RNLI guild in 1943 and did door to door/street collections for over 40 years.
In the 1980s RNLI asked Mary to attend a garden party at Buckingham Palace. Donning her Sunday best (with a hat of course), Mary with husband Ken set off for a special day in London. Unfortunately, just before the Queen arrived, the heavens opened in spectacular fashion, and everyone (except her majesty of course) got soaked. Mary received an RNLI 50 year long service award in Leeds City Hall.
