Roger Butterwick was born in Whitby in 1943 the son of Clifford, a sea captain and Annie. He had a sister Ann Doreen. He lived in Whitby all his life, and ran Schofield’s Delicatessen on Skinner Street selling all kinds of things before they were available elsewhere. Later he drove Aviva buses round Whitby. A keen walker he was a member of the Ramblers and enjoyed exploring the world. He went missing in January 2003. His body was found on the shore at Saltwick Bay in March 2003. We miss him
