Dad joined the Royal Navy as a boy sailor at age 14. He served 35 years. He was part of the convoys that sailed to Murmansk during WWII. His final trip after retirement age was to be part of Operation Grapple to oversee the Nuclear tests at Christmas Island. He was the CPO on HMS Warrior one of the support ships a light aircraft carrier. He always said that the only charity he would support was the RNLI so in remembrance of him it was wonderful to be able to add his name to the Wells lifeboat
