The current Mersey class Wells lifeboat is called Doris Mann of Ampthill. My grandmother Olive was a housekeeper to Doris Mann On a holiday weekend to Wells, my mother and I were lucky enough to be introduced to the lifeboat skipper ‘Popeye’ and a tour of the station. I still have the photos of that day and my now departed Mum It will be a great source of family pride to have our much loved little nan Olive saving lives at sea along with The Duke of Edinburgh
