Alexander Ross Stewart
An RNLI lifeboat was launched in the middle of the night on 22nd January 1939, to rescue the SS Wilston - which was in severe difficulties during a force 10 WNW storm. Tragically, 6 members of the lifeboat crew died and the SS Wilston was wrecked with no survivors.
Alexander Ross Stewart was the Wilston's Master.
