Matteus Andreas (Thys) de Beer
My Thys was never far from the sea, and happiest when in or alongside it, as a commercial fisherman at one stage, and as a keen shore angler until he died. He was a brave, humble and loving man, the best kind to have next to you when you're in trouble, which is why I am putting his name on the lifeboat, as a tribute to a beautiful soul.
