Dad never did get his boat but he did get Portia and Olivia instead. According to Eve he thought that was more than a fair swap. In later life Dad worked for the “wavy navy” as he called it and greatly enjoyed not being able to walk on the grass at Yeovilton. Perhaps on his retirement he’d have been able to get his boat had lymphoma not led to his ridiculously premature death in 1999. At least with this donation we can all feel he’s got some way towards his boat in the end. We miss him.
