My Dad lied about his age and at 15 joined the Merchant Navy during WW2. He survived many trips during the Battle of the Atlantic and subsequently went on to travel the world. He loved his time at sea and would have stayed in the Merchant Navy longer, were it not , for meeting/marrying my Mum and starting a Family. Unfortunately, he passed away in 2003 and his ashes were scattered at sea. I can't think of a better tribute, than knowing his name, will be part of such an amazing new Lifeboat.
