Clifford John Mills

Dad was a submariner in World War Two from age 17. He served on seven different submarines in the Far East, stationed in India, Ceylon, Australia and Hong Kong. He was the sole survivor of HMS Porpoise (N14) which was lost to Japanese air attack in January 1945 on its final minelaying patrol before returning to Britain. Dad had changed places with a man who wanted to get home to see his wife and new baby. Dad subsequently lived a long, happy and varied life into his eighty-ninth year.
