I was a little girl when on holiday with my family in Cornwall and my dad took me to see one of the lifeboats. He told me that the people sailing in these boats are very brave and I could tell he had such a lot of admiration for them. It made an impact on me so much that every time I see a lifeboat I think of my dad who passed away in 2013. I am very happy to remember him this way and on what would have been his 97th birthday today.
