My Gran was Chair of the RNLI Ladies Guild in Bangor, Co. Down for many years and received a long service medal. Gran did pop up charity shops, made quilts to raffle and she involved the family in flag days. Gran and I spent a day fund raising on board the old Donaghadee lifeboat, the Sir Samuel Kelly, when it was 'moored' in the car park of the local shopping centre. This was the lifeboat that attended the Princess Victoria disaster & coxed by Hugh Nelson, my great, great uncle.
