Dad was a lifelong lover of sailing and taught himself to sail at an early age. After he trained as a teacher he established a sailing club and helped to teach many children how to sail, some of whom went on to maritime careers. I have many memories of our sailing adventures together, even one involving the Tighnabruaich ILB. He would be amazed that he would be able to have his name inscribed on a lifeboat, especially as he started his working life as a traditional sign writer.
