My father loved the sea and ships. His spent his summer holidays back in the 1920s and 30s in Fleetwood where his uncle was a trawler skipper in World War Two he served in the Royal Navy mainly on boom defence duties. Though he did catch malaria in West Africa and towed a section of the mulberry harbour across the channel shortly after D Day.
He would be tickled pink to think that his name is on the side of a lifeboat.
