My Dads safe space was the high seas. A postwar Bernardo's baby, life was tough & Dad found family in the Royal Navy signing up at the tender age of 15. All his adult life, being on a boat was my Dads escape ( yes..the unquantified risk of weather & sea was better than the unknown risks from humans). We thank the RNLI for a couple of rescues where in later life Dad would transport private vessels from A to B where they were not able. Unknown engines = fire a few times. We are eternally grateful
