John Kail
John Kail was my grandfather, and we called him Pa. He was born in Sunderland in 1935 and often told my mum how lucky he had be living on the coast during the Second World War, and how he had access to fresh fish when those living inland did not. He was very proud of his Sunderland roots and would likely have been aware of its history as being the oldest operational lifeboat station in Britain. Pa passed away in 2013 but I think he would really appreciate this dedication.
