In the 1970's you dedicated your life to Minehead RNLI as the last Swimmer on the Crew. In 1975 alongside these 2 gentleman you were awarded on Vellum for your part in the rescue of all on board the Yacht, Svea in the Bristol Channel, just one of many shouts you were part of. We will bid you farewell in early 2024. Rest easy now Dad.

My father remains the only Inspector of Lifeboats ever to be awarded the Gold Medal for Gallantry in the history of Institution, for the service to the Nafsiporos in December 1966. Also to honour the Gallantry of the Holyhead and Moelfre lifeboat crews who all gave such selfless service, in the finest traditions of the RNLI. God bless you all.

William Dingwall.

William was my uncle, whom I never met. On his 21st birthday, on the 1st January 1915 he was drowned off Lyme Regis when the troop carrier he was on was torpedoed. Over 400 men were killed that night. I am saddened that I never met him, that so much promise was lost, a life unlived, and so many families suffered heartache and loss. I have been lucky enough to have been able to lay a wreath over the wreck. May you all rest in peace. Love and eternal gratitude , your nephew, Robert. xxx
