Michael ‘Hawkeye’ Morris
My Dad joined the Royal Navy when he was 15. He joined for a Boys' Own Adventure on the high seas It wasn't quite like that (a lot more routine maintenance involved!) but he was a button boy at HMS Ganges, fought at Suez and saw the world. He claimed he could spot ships before the RADAR. We knew this wasn't true but he wasn't called Hawkeye for nothing! My mum gets sick on the Norfolk Broads but he never lost his love for and awe of the sea nor his admiration for the brave RNLI volunteers.
