John Flockhart
My father first took me to sell lifeboat flags when I was 2 years old. I am now nearly 70. We would visit any lifeboat station we could and I got my love of the sea and my respect for those who live and work by it, from him. We would visit places like Robin Hoods Bay; Whitby and Staithes and then on the Fylde coast places like Fleetwood. As a geography teacher he would take school field trips to the seaside and visit docks and lifeboat crews. Those were his happiest moments.
