Dad, although you weren’t around for much of my life before illness took you, you taught me many things, too many to list. Mum, your drive to keep going despite losing the one you loved was an inspiration for me, your belief in me no matter what drove me forward and no doubt lead me to the crew of the William blanning lifeboat. The belief you are both with me on every training exercise and shout. So much so I truly believe the words of Sir William Hillary… ‘with courage nothing is impossible’.
